Innovative Training Generates Employee Response
LOUISVILLE-- Innovative access works.  Innovative web-based access to advanced manufacturing training is benefitting Taylor Machine Works.  More employees want to be and will be trained using the innovative “anytime, anywhere” advanced training system developed by the WAEM Initiative and announced by Gov. Haley Barbour last October.  The “anytime, anywhere” system provides access to over 400 advanced training modules developed for major manufacturers by Amatrol, Inc.

“Over the years, we have received training and support from East Central Community College and ECCC has done a very good job in anything we have needed,” explained Rodis Shealy, Manufacturing Engineering Group Leader.  “We have not utilized more of these services because it is difficult to get our people to classes after work.

“Since your group came up and presented the Amatrol program, we have had increased interest in more training. This is because we can work at our own pace through the modules that are of interest to us.

“We are starting with our Maintenance Group and our Manufacturing Engineering Group. There are so many topics that the Amatrol Modules cover, we all have a list of topics we want.”

“This is customized training at its best, expressed Roger Whitlock, Dean of Workforce Development at East Central Community College.  “People value the quality of the instructional content and appreciate the convenience provided by this ‘anytime, anywhere resource.’”

Taylor Machine Works designs, engineers, and manufactures more than 100 models of industrial lift equipment.  The worldwide operations of the organization continue to be based in Louisville, Mississippi, where W.A. Taylor, Sr. established the company.  The company remains a family owned and operated organization with more than 1,050 employees working for the “Big Red Team.”
